can't reenable rotation (in solidworks)

I'm new to the forum (hi everyone!), but I own and use my spacePilot Pro since quite a while.
Recently I have updated to the newest drivers, but like many as it seems, this went not without issues.

After some troubles of getting the Keys to stay what I have assigned them to (I hope that works now), I'm having multiple issues with the "roll on/off" and the "pan on/off" buttons.

first Issue
1. I set both "pan/zoom" and "rotation" to enabled in the advanced settings of the driver
2. in SolidWorks, I disable the "rotation" --> the rotation is disabled as expected
3. I push the button again to enable rotation --> nothing happens, the rotation stays disabled
4. the only way i can reenable rotation is through the advanced settings of the driver

second (related?) issue
1. same as above
2. in Solidworks, I disable "pan / zoom" --> instead of "pan / zoom" it disables "rotation"
3. as above, I'm not able to reenable rotation

it kind of seems to work in other applications: If I do the above in Windows Explorer, according to the icons on display (of the SP), the restraints are correctly set an unset.

I'm using
3DxWare 10.6.3
3DxWinCore 17.6.3.16588

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi rouge,

it might be that you have a user-specific configuration file that is kind of broken. Please try the following:
  • stop SOLIDWORKS and
  • stop the driver (Windows Start -> All apps -> 3Dconnexion -> Stop 3DxWare)
  • navigate to your user-specific configuration files at %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg (usually C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg)
  • remove the file SolidWorks.XML
  • start the driver (Windows Start -> All apps -> 3Dconnexion -> Start 3DxWare)
  • start SOLIDWORKS
See if you still cannot toggle the rotation with the button on your SpaceMouse.

Thanks for the reply (and sorry for my late reaction, i automatically expected an e-mail-notification).

Deleting the "solidworks.xml"-file works indeed, but this also seems to remove my button configuration.

Is there a way to keep those?

Hi rouge,

if you still have the XML file you can first try if exporting and re-importing the settings solves the issue. In case you still have the file please let me know. It might help us for analysis.

Hi Uta

I did the following:
- stopped the driver
- deleted the xml file under %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg
- restarted the driver
--> the reported problem was gone
- I reimported my configuration from the previously exported .3dxz-file
--> The reported problem was back again

Which file do you want to analyse?
the newly created SolidWorks.XML-file?
