Does it make a difference if you stop the driver and re-start it as administrator? (right click ... run as ...)

I'm having similar issues that are described in this thread, but none of the suggestions have helped. When I click on 'start driver' nothing happens. If I click on 'stop driver' the message box says 'driver not running'. The navigator has been active a couple times, but it always stops working before I can complete the trainer.

I'm running Win 7 Professional SP1 64-bit.

Hello melvinkat -

If the PC is a desktop , try using a rear USB port. If it is a laptop, make sure it is using AC power. These small changes can make a difference in device recognition.

Is this a new install or a SpaceNavigator that was working previously on another PC ?

I'm using a laptop and the AC power cord is connected. This is a new install. While I was waiting for a reply I uninstalled the driver software, reinstalled it and then rebooted the computer with the SpaceNavigator plugged in. The LED ring lit up, but it was unresponsive. Now the LED ring won't even light up again. The driver won't start and the control panel won't start either.

Hi Melvinkat -

Is there another PC where you can try the SpaceNavigator ? If it is recognized on a different PC, there are some additional steps we can take.

Hi all,

I would just like to mention that the `flash firmware' update given to me by UtaSH has resolved all the win7-64bit issues I had - Thank you kindly.

The device now connects first time, everytime and continues to work fine for the duration of any session. If you are a valid customer of 3D Connexion and have a SpaceNavigator and are having similar issues to mine then I would suggest you request the updated firmware.

regards

Fused

I tried it on another PC and had the same results. I just tried a different Space Navigator on my laptop and it worked just fine.

Hi n0mad,

please let us know if your device is recognized by the system. What is shown in the device manager right after the boot process? And what do you see after unplugging and re-plugging the SpaceNavigator? See here.

Hi Uta

message is always the same.. device not recognized, no matter what I try.
SN is not listed in HID but I have message under USB controllers "Unknown device" Anytime I reconnect SN (even if I try two button reset) there is no result.Blue light not lit also.

Hi n0mad,

if the device is not recognized even after re-plugging I am not sure if the firmware update helps. But we will try. I will send you the needed information.

Hello,

I have been unable to get my Spacenavigator to recognize when I plug it in to my system. I am Running windows 7 64-bit, 8GB Ram, i5, and SSD drive. However my Spacenavigator lights up when I plug it into my mac, so I dont think its a hardware issue. I have tried to uninstall My generic USB ports but that seemed to do nothing. I am also running the newest driver from the website.

Thanks Joe
