So the 10 beta software seems super cool, but reading the quick promos for it talks about rotating the puck forward and backward for scrolling up and down and twisting it left and right for zoom. This seems TOTALLY unintuitive... please tell me it's not the only way it works...
Now i'm not saying you couldn't learn to make it intuitive, but considering i'm someone using it for CAD for years and is already totally trained to shift it left and right to pan left and right, to shift it for and aft for zoom in and out, and to push down and up to pan up and down... why on earth not use this same functionality format across aps?!? It would require no re-learning if panning and zooming was consistent between all aps. Then if you want to add twisting and yawing (which fundamentally has no function in a 2d app), you can use those as ways of performing mouse clicks, "go back", or other activities.
As it stands i have no interest in trying to learning and recall efficiently 2 different ways of zooming and panning, but i sure like the idea of functionality across all apps. Great idea for sure... but i'd end up never getting it straight.
Sorry if this is old topic stuff. First time on this forum, and not savy to vocabulary to know what to search to find old threads. If nothing else, some keys words to search if this is old news would be a good help.
