Can anywhere driver works with any 3D printer software?

Postby tri.darwin » Mon Jun 13, 2011 9:03 pm

Hi, I was curious whether we can use 3D mouse with 3D printer software. the software to view our 3D model before we actually print the prototype of it.

I am using nettfabb actually. I found out that from the website it doesn't support, so I want to know whether the anywhere driver can support the software for 3D printer such as nettfab studio or any other 3D printer software?

thanks :)

How do you manipulate the view now in nettfabb? If you can use a joystick, 3DxWare 10 will probably work very well. If you can only use a 2D mouse, we can only do what the mouse does. It may be ok. It may at least provide consistent interaction, the same as other 3D applications. Personally, I would want to try it out before I'd make a purchase just for that one application.

Thank for your reply.

I notice that 3Dx Ware should work directly with this software. So i just try it out. and it doesn't work.

It works with a 2D mouse, so what makes the 3D mouse different than a 2D mouse if we set the movement to 2D mouse? what do you mean by consistent interaction? It would be the same as 2D mouse then.

What changed? Previously you said you found that it was not supported. You do have to make a profile for the application.

If you set 2D mouse actions in your profile for this app, it should act just like a 2D mouse, except that it doesn't have to be moved around the table.

The inconsistency that the 3D mouse can fix is for applications that all use the 2D mouse differently. E.g., Left Mouse Button + Mouse X/Y does pan in one application, but it is Shift + Mouse X/Y in a different application. Or Zoom is MouseWheel in one, but Right Mouse Button + Mouse Y in another. The 3D mouse allows you to make all these application work the same. Pan your 3D mouse and the driver maps this to the correct motions for your particular application. Zoom your 3D mouse and the application zooms no matter how it does it.

Hi,

First, I check on 3dconnexion website at software supported site, then i type nettfabb studio. No result coming out. that's why i wrote it doesn't support at the first time. so i try the anywhere driver.

However, I understand clearly now. Although, the movement with 2D mouse function is a bit jagged, but I will enjoy this 3D mouse. thank you.
